Last month, Plymouth Software passed the 10 year milestone! The business was founded on 19 July 2010, originally launching with a web-based hosting management app — we still have the source code, written on Rails 2.3!

As the mobile app environment shifted (and continues to shift), we moved our focus entirely to developing, maintaining, and supporting the Ruby on Rails apps in the background.

Since then, it’s been an amazing journey, and I can’t quite believe how quickly a decade has passed. I’ve learned so much about business, yet feel like there is still so much more to learn. It is truly a lifelong journey.

Over the years, we’ve been lucky to meet and work with incredible people — clients, suppliers, staff, freelancers, and more. I am truly thankful to each and every one of them — both past and present — in the part they have played on the company’s journey so far.

I’ll be writing in much more detail about the 10 years so far on my blog, but suffice to say that throughout that journey, Ruby on Rails — the core technology with which we work — has continued to develop.

While now one of the older frameworks around, Rails continues to be a powerful tool on which many successful businesses continue to build their technology.

We always have an eye on the future though, and we’re very excited to see where the next 10 years takes us 🚀
